Indiana John and the one2one Crusade

The Challenge

When telecoms provider one2one decided to stage a one day conference for 200 very special sales and distribution staff, they knew it had to have something extra in order to make a high impact.  AVT, working with partner Martlet, were asked to come up with some concepts for the event to grab delegates right from the start.

The AVT Solution

The result? An Indiana Jones style adventure that took people from London to Paris and threw in a few snakes and machete wielding jungle dwellers along the way for good measure.  AVT's winning idea focused on John Barton, who became 'Indiana John' for the day, and the corporate message became the 'one2one crusade', which encapsulated the key messages for the sales force.

The trail started with a CD-ROM business card from 'Professor John' inviting people to sign-up via an on-line hyperlink.  Delegates then had to turn up at Waterloo Station in London with no idea of their mission or final destination. A Eurostar journey later they were in Disneyland Paris, transported not only to another country but suddenly finding themselves in a deep jungle setting, surrounded by spooky animal sounds, snakes flying through the air and seemingly crazy jungle dwellers running amok.  Then, in front of their eyes, 'Indiana John' burst through a wall to shoot the villain and locate the 'stone' he had been seeking.  In order to disguise the set until the last moment, AVT used the innovative 'Kabuki' system to remove thick gauze curtains in a trice.

This motivational conference was held twice, on successive days, for the one2one UK sales force and for resellers.  For AVT, it presented not only the challenge of getting it right on the night down to the last detail, but doing so in a foreign country while coping with health and safety issues and fire regulations.

The Results

"This was a really fun, fully themed event which worked very well.  The execution was excellent, keeping everyone guessing.  People entered into the spirit and it played a major part in getting our messages across".
