Celebrating Achievement The Argus Way

The Challenge

Sponsored by EDF energy, The Argus Achievement Awards single out children of courage, neighbours who go the extra mile and other 'ordinary' people in the community who do truly remarkable things.

For the 6th year running, The Argus newspaper decided it wanted to showcase and celebrate some of the extraordinary achievements of its readership, and it came to AVT to make sure the awards presentation ceremony was once again a glittering and life-affirming occasion. 

The awards ceremony took place at the Brighton Hilton Metropole, starting with a drinks reception and sit down meal for finalists, followed by high-energy entertainment from the Brighton samba band Barulho.

The AVT Solution

The event needed to reflect the excitement and glitz of the occasion, so AVT used a 3 screen projection system with a central front projected truss screen and two smaller rear projected screens.  These were incorporated into surrounds and flanked by star cloth and a CAT5e system was employed to distribute the signal to the projectors, due to the length of the cable runs.

A combination of intelligent and generic lighting fixtures, both ground supported and flown, enabled us to deliver changing lighting patterns which brought the room to life.

Many local celebrities from the Sussex area attended the event and presented awards, adding a strong local feel to the evening.

The Results

‘For the sixth consecutive year AVT have contributed to an event which is one of the highlights of our year.  It’s an emotional evening but one that deserves professionalism and the highest possible standards of execution.  Once again AVT responded to our brief and provided solutions which contributed to making the evening such a success’.
