Learning Skills Council makes the honours list

The Challenge

When the Learning Skills Council decided to honour the nine young recipients who won the LSC Spring Awards, it came to AVT to make sure the winners were honoured in a manner that reflected each student’s accomplishments. 

The Learning Skills Council exists to improve the skills of England’s young people and adults in the workplace. The seasonal awards were created in order to honour the education and training for over 16-year-olds in England.

The AVT Solution

AVT designed a ‘star-studded night’ set for the LSC Spring Awards, heavily relying on lighting.  Leading up to the event, AVT’s multimedia department and a representative from FE Sussex, a partnership of Sussex colleges, worked together in order to create a video for each winner to play before the recipient collected their award onstage. FE Sussex provided AVT with a list of key messages, stills, people and locations that were then featured in the video.

Using this clear structure, four winners were informally interviewed in their place of work or apprenticeship.  Their tutor, colleague or sponsor joined them in the video.  The winners discussed what skills they demonstrated in order to achieve the award.  Cutaway shots of the winners at work propelled the videos along.  Additionally, five other 30-second videos were created using high-end images of the winners.  A professional voiceover complemented these specialised stills.  All of the nine 30-second spots were played at the precise moment in the ceremony in order to highlight the winner’s education and commitment to go beyond the expected.
