Statistical Parametric Mapping - Institute of Neurology

The Challenge

 

Statistical Parametric Mapping, or SPM, is a software programme used to map brain activity.  The SPM short course is taught to neuroscientists at the Institute of Neurology.  The Institute held a two-day training course, which was attended by neurological researchers from all over the world, including students from as far away as United States and China.

AVT’s task was to come up with a way of delivering this complex software information to a larger audience, as the department where the course was held only holds a limited amount of space for attendees.

The AVT Solution

AVT created an e-learning solution which incorporated filming the presenter of the course and their PowerPoint™ presentation, along with the specific mouse clicks used throughout the presentation.  We captured high resolution images, a software demonstration, plus animations and delivered all of the final edited material into a Multimedia DVD.  This DVD also included other course material as well as speaker biographies.

The Results

 

The Institute was able offer students who attended the course a copy of the SPM DVD as a reference.  The DVD can also be bought with details on the SPM website, with all the proceeds going directly to the department.
