C-COR 2nd Annual Global IP Summit, Athens

The Challenge

AVT has a close working relationship with the event management company Yellow*Fish.  The two companies often work mutually on ventures where logistical management and multimedia are required together.

C-COR’s 2nd Annual Global IP Summit offered another opportunity for Yellow*Fish and AVT to work together and provide C-COR with added value through its partnership.  C-COR is a business solution provider for cable operators, telephone companies and broadcasters and their 2nd Global IP Summit is heralded within the industry as a ‘must attend’ event.

AVT and Yellow*Fish’s brief was to deliver a summit that surpassed C-COR’s first European event held in 2005.  Particular emphasis was on creating a technologically advanced forum indicative of the industry in a resort style venue whilst ensuring the C-COR brand was subtly enforced throughout.

The conference required general and panel, or “break-out panel” sessions running for two consecutive days, revolving around industry standards and the future of the IP market.

The AVT Solution

C-COR’s 2nd Annual Global IP Summit was held at the Astir Palace in Athens, Greece.  The Astir Palace consists of three five-star hotels, which are located on a private peninsula with breathtaking views of the Saronic Gulf on the Mediterranean Sea.

AVT was responsible for all media output plus stage concept and design for three meeting rooms which ran consecutive sessions over a two day period for a maximum audience of 250.  AVT was also responsible for the filming of all sessions for the production of a micro website to be viewed post event.

It was imperative to C-COR & Yellow*Fish that AVT should operate all three meeting rooms to ensure continuity and standard of service so a team of 18 sound, audio and lighting technicians were flown to Athens for a six day period.  The bespoke stage sets were driven out from the UK and constructed on-site.

During the conference, 23 “Executive Interviews” with the top industry leaders were filmed and recorded in a specially set-up recording studio constructed and managed by AVT.  Opinions and views were obtained on the future of the industry to be showcased on the C-COR post event micro-site.

When AVT and Yellow*Fish returned to the UK, the production of the micro-site, which AVT created for C-COR, commenced. The general and breakout/panel sessions, of which there were 55 presenters, had to be edited along with the Executive Interviews that were edited into two versions and composited onto background images.  The micro-site was produced containing an index of interviews with thumbnail images, linking to the individual clips.  AVT facilitated access to the conference micro-site via a password protected area within the main C-COR website.

AVT used the standard on-demand hosting package, Windows Media, in order for 100 viewers to watch the entire web cast online.

The Results

Maria Valentine, Managing Director, Yellow*Fish Event Management Ltd made the following observations about AVT.

“Having successfully worked together on the 1st C-COR Global IP Summit it was imperative to Yellow*Fish that the 2nd would far exceed the 1st in terms of both delivery and presentation.

To know that the entire team working on the conference was all part of AVT gave me the re-assurance that whatever was thrown at us the actual conference element and construction of stage sets would run smoothly and efficiently; as always.

The use of the polycarbonate columns in the set design in the general session created the ‘Athenaeum’ feel C-COR wanted whilst keeping the design contemporary with the use of various light effects throughout the sessions.

It was a heavy schedule with some 55 presenters to rehearse and present over a two day period and with many of the sessions being panel based it required the video relay teams and sound technicians to be forever on their toes.  Many presentations included switches to video with some presenting live demo’s from PSPs or mobile phones which required wireless connectivity and of course clever camera work!  All handled expertly.

The production of the micro-site has been effortless and smooth from both Yellow*Fish and C-COR’s perspective and this is tantamount once again to the professionalism and skill of the AVT team.

The event was a huge success and we are already talking about 2007; needless to say it will be with AVT holding Yellow*Fish’s hand!”
