BUPA employees enjoy feelgood factor

The Challenge

BUPA once again asked AVT to stage an annual awards ceremony to mark the extraordinary achievements of their employees.  Following the complete success of last year’s event, The Old Market in Hove was booked and a similar specification requested. 

However, it wasn’t until the last minute that there looked to be a significant increase in the number of attendees.  AVT were therefore faced with the challenge of re-assessing the layout of the room, whilst trying to maintain the same style and impact that won the admiration of BUPA last year.  This major change of plan inevitably had a huge impact on both the stage area and technical requirements.

The AVT Solution

Seeking the advice of our experienced team, a further site visit was initiated for all technical crew to be involved, and following a combined consultation with the venue AVT created an alternative layout to accommodate more attendees. 

Using a simple but effective combination of star cloth, together with sharkstooth gauze, the stage backdrop was very much a blank canvas which was brought to life by a wealth of lighting combinations.  These elegantly captured each award winner’s moment and maintained the pace and dynamic feel of the event.

Furthermore, it was essential for BUPA to include a particular video during the awards event.  Any usable footage was currently incorporated into a montage of clips on VHS tape and the source material was not ideal as it was mixed audio tracks, which when cut down to be re-edited created problems with audio glitch. 

Our Video & Multimedia team digitised the material to DVD format and blended alternative tracks to disguise voice over and music.  They then undertook colour correction on the footage to enhance the image for projection.

The Results

 

BUPA were more than impressed with the outcome and we were proud to be part of such an uplifting and rewarding occasion.  The success of the event was never in question and the increased attendee numbers are a testament to the awards’ popularity and relevance.

People are still talking about it - one Director saying it was the best staff event that he had been to.  A very big thank you to all involved - the set looked stunning, powerpoints worked according to plan and the music was great.’
